The Blogger Recognition Award

Hey guys! Aren’t you so proud of me? Another chatty post! That’s a tag! That requires actual work! While I’m on summer vacation! Yeah, haha, thanks a lot, Trisha. I see you’re embracing your devil-unicorn side.

Nah, just kidding! Hats off to my girl Trisha for nominating me! Also, may I just point out that… this is my first award on my WordPress blog! Yay, I guess :).

Rules:

1. Write a post to show your award.
2. Acknowledge the blogger that nominated you.
3. Give a brief story about how you got started blogging.
4. Give two pieces of advice for new bloggers.
5. Nominate 15 bloggers for the award.

How did I start my blog? If you haven’t read my last post, I’ll fill you in. But it’s a shocker. I’m not joking. Make sure you’re not standing; don’t want any fainting spells. Yeah, it’s that bad.

Okay… I started a blog… because I was interested in web designing.

Yeah. That’s it.

No “I wanted to connect with people”. No “get my feelings out in a healthy way”. No “spread positivity”.

Just me, my desire for design, and the good ol’ Internet.

You’re cringing, right? Hey, I did warn you.

The reason I started this blog (the above story was for my old blog) was to get a fresh start. So I could be more free and break through the image I had built for myself which wasn’t really the kind of image I wanted. Is that selfish? Yeah, sort of… Um, moving on. Two pieces of advice?

Hmmm… definitely views don’t matter. I know especially when you’re starting, when you see you’ve gotten like 5 views, it’s really discouraging and you’ll be like, “Sigh. I’m the worst blogger ever.” No! It just means you’ve started out! Don’t stop blogging, if you love it! VIEWS DON’T JUDGE YOUR WORTH AS A BLOGGER.

Another piece of advice I’d give relates to the above situation. Honestly, I wish I’d known this quicker with my first blog. My advice is if you’re frustrated with the number of views you’re getting, put yourself out there into a blogging community. Comment on people’s blogs. And do make sure you have something to actually connect with the content of the post; you don’t want to seem like you’re advertising. For example, if you stumble upon a post about, say, summer beauty products, don’t just say, “CHECK OUT MY BLOG YO OVER HERE IT’S SUPER COOL” say something that actually has to do with the post. You’ll find friends and get more views, if views are what you want. Don’t be afraid; bloggers are amazing and super-friendly, they won’t turn you away!

As for nominations, I nominate…

I know that’s not fifteen, just because I’m on summer vacation doesn’t mean I’ve lost the ability to count. I’m kind of new to the WordPress community, so do forgive me. I’ll make up for it… with a shiny present! “Shiny present?” you say, dollar signs practically floating in your eyes.

Yes! Your present is… YOU are nominated to do this tag! 🙂 A lot of bloggers have already done this, so I nominate you. Yes, you! If you do it, tell me because I’ll definitely want to check it out :).

That’s it for today, licornes (is that what I should call you guys from now on? BTW it means unicorns in French :))!

    • Thanks a million, Trisha :). And yes, I do recognize the extreme humor of why I blog.. I felt kind of stupid saying it (typing it?) but glad it made you laugh.
